If an image could say a thousand words than all you need is this first picture to describe this 1st period here tonight at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink. The Fog Devils coming from their tired first game loss, left Saint John behind with a 3-1 score at the end of the 1st period St. John’s goals were by Michael Cole (x2) and Robert Cale with one goal by Vito’s Greg Edgecome. In the second period action the Fog Devils (Gillard) and Vito’s (Carter) end the period one goal a peace. However the Fog Devils were out-shot. (8-6) Will this mean the Fog Devils have run out of steam to keep their 4-2 lead? Only the 3rd period will tell. Despite being almost 2-1 out-shot in the third period the Fog Devils not only managed to hold on to their lead, but increased it with a final fifth goal (Bussey) late in the 5th period. Play continues tomorrow starting with Cole Harbour (HNS) vs. Moncton (HNB) at 10am, followed by Saint John (Host) vs. Cornwall (HPEI) at 1:30pm, then Cole Harbour returns at 5pm to take on St. John’s (HNL). After the first period of play the Cole Harbour McCains have a 2-0 lead over the Cornwall Thunder. The goals were scored by Dillman and Mock. Cornwall seamed to be hindered by heavy penalties. During the second period the tables turned as Cole Harbour started receiving the penalties and Cornwall coming back with two goals from Costello and Smallman tied the game up 2-2. The game was quickly decided in the first 30 seconds of the third period with a game misconduct penalty by Cole Harbour’s Matthew English for checking from behind. Foiled immediately by the tie-breaking goal at 0:30 in the third period by Brody McDonald. The shots on goal for the game were 24-23 for Cole Harbour. Coming up at 7:30pm here at the LBR will be the opening ceremonies at 7:30pm followed by at 8pm the play resumes with the Fog Devils facing the Host team Saint John Vito’s. After the first period of play, the Moncton Flyers have a 1-0 lead over the St. John’s Fog Devils. The first goal (pictured below) was by Alex Saulnier assisted by Allain Saulnier at 15:28. The second period was full of action as the scoring at the end of the period the Flyers have a single goal lead with a 4-3 score tied up at 3 goals apiece.  The goals this period were score by HNL- Michael Cole #16 Assist- Alex Powell # 5 and Zach O’Brien #9, HNB- Alex Saulnier #21 Assist- Gino Goguen #12 (Photo Below), HNB- Pierre Durepos #23 Assist- Gino Goguen #12 (Power Play Goal), HNL- Andrew Ryan #19 Assist- Zach O’Brien #9 and John Bursey #2, HNL-  Andrew Sullivan #24 Assist- Brandon Bussey #27, and HNB- Allain Saulnier #19 Assist- Alex Saulnier #21 Gino Gouen #12 (Power Play Goal). A drop in the bucket… err… table

Who is left to tell the tail abount the drop. This may be just a little drop of coffee on the table, but who will tell the world. It was interesting to learn the only part of CBC during these layoffs are the CBC.ca department. The web seems to now finally be changing the directon of media. The idea that you don’t need huge television systems, broadcast transmitters, and printing presses to the people. To those ends there is now not a need for the content to suffe either. The question however is how will interactive benefit the telling of the news? Can the local not be lost to a global voice? Can the web emerge as a primary source for news rather than current methods as regurgitation of the news reported by old media sour we and techniques?

Fitness and Personality Watchmen

I’m going to start today’s post with the fact that I have joined a gym. My friend Andrea finally convinced me to join Nubody’s (now GoodLife) (Now GoodLife). I bought the membership on Thursday and finally went yesterday. Despite feeling a little sore and tired today, I actually feel better. Despite the fact that I have a lot of weight that I should lose, I am actually quite hesitant to set goals/benchmarks at this point. It has been since 2002 since I last regularly worked-out in a gym. The most exercise I have done recently is walking to work from missing the bus. Which according to Google Maps is 3.4 km which should take 39 minutes. I usually take 45-50 minutes to do it, Although I have done it in a “Vindaloo” walk in 32 minutes. (While listening to “Vindaloo” on my iPod. in one song loop mode.) The next topic is to discuss personalities. I was recently updating my profile for the site StumbleUpon which one of the selections is personality type. This morning I was listening to CBC Radio 1 and one of the main stories today is that the local cable company cut off the final few laps of the Nascar race for an all new episode of The Simpsons. Let’s face it The Simpsons is one of the most important influinces of my generation. The Simpsons, teaches that it is important to think for yourself and that one voice can make a difference. In retrospect this week’s particular episode was one of the best lately and I feel bad if an cable company didn’t cut off NASCAR for it.

Slamming Empire Theatres

Okay, so instead of a review of a movie I’m going to post about the whole getting into the theatre. This is payback for not showing the new release “New in Town.” 1. Congestion at Entrance. First off the last renovation to the theater was based on the time when probably 70% of the transactions were cash based. Now that this is not the case there is a large congestion at the point by the arcade. I mean there are several ad-hock lines for the automated machines and the REALLY LONG cash line. It practically is impassable to get past it especially if you are going to the concessions and getting you tickets there. To make it worse the on sight that informs you of this is the one that is in the way and makes the situation worse on a busy Friday/Saturday. And move that sign further near the foot of the ramp. 2. Focus in the Cinemas. About 20% of the movies that I see are so out of focus that it bothers me at times, like most people would not notice but to a trained eye like mine it does get annoying during some presentations. 3. Is the was digital revoluton really a revoluton?

This is a topic I usually don’t get into here on my Blog, nor do I get this deep into a topic ether but I was listening to TWiT 180, and they were discussing a migration from blogs to Twitter. This got me thinking of the term revolution that gets applied to new technologies all the time. In a non-physics (my head hurts) interpretation a revolution is when something or a group of people become so outdated and useless that by force and necessity need to be replaced. The Internet revolution was not a forced or possibly necessary revolution it is merely a change in preference. It is not like the upper class and the peasants of the 1700’s France. The digital and non digital worlds can and do co-exist. TV and YouTube can coexist. It is all in preferences not a Revolution. Therefore, Twitter will not replace the Blog. Then again I do have the capability to re-post all my Twitter tweets here but I tend to see Twitter as like facebook.com but without all the annoying apps. In fact my Facebook front page is all I really use.

My MacBook and Twitter vs. WordPress

Okay lets start by this stupid article from Wired: Steven Levy on the Burden of Twitter wired.com — The shame and remorse of not keeping up with Social Networking… I’m digging this story in honor of Steve Levy as he’s never ‘Dugg’ before… I think this article is a crock, just because this guy doesn’t update the Blog as often as he used to doesn’t mean that Twitter is to blame. For ages now it had become a popular thing in Windows/MSN/Windows Live Messenger that people would change their name to include a “status”  of what they were doing that it was eventually permanently added as a feature. AIM, IRC, Facebook, Twitter… the short message is usually the perfect size to let others know what you think. I am still certain however that this does not replace the need for the long format that a blog allows to express your full thoughts on a topic. Generally speaking I use Twitter to update something quickly as I’m usually only using me iPhone or Macbook while laying in bed in the morning so I can tell the world quickly my thought or things of interest, and have it auto populate to the…

THIS KID’S A TEXT MANIAC – New York Post. Now I had seen this posted on Shocking News on Yahoo! News and tracked it back to this New York Post article. Now in my past experiences in the wireless industry leaves me seeing this as not a “shocker” I have personally dealt with accounts that the list of usage was so massive it was impossible to do anything. about 21,000 text messages in a month are about the max I have seen to date. But this article goes to those cases where people say with a teenager, “$10 for 2,500 message who would ever use that many?” remember this article. Now in my personal usage I use 25-60 SMS messages a month, which is mostly to 2-3 people both yonger than I. and personally I only have a plan with 125 messages.

Farewell to 2008

2008, as you are bidding us ado for the uncertanties of what 2009 will have instore. I am going to take a moment to reflect on the times we had togeather as we prepare to spit on your grave upon your death this evening. Unless we are of the 45% that will pass out before your death. This has been a year of taking things away so I will start with the things I lost this year. Disk 2 to my Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan set, my grandmother, my job at Zellers, two of my favourite Rogers TV shows to make Daytime and Too Close to Call, and my dignity (lol). Once again procrastination hampered this post.
