Tournament Committee Welcomes Participating Teams

The Tournament committee and host team Saint John Vito’s would like to welcome and announce the participants in this year’s 2009 Atlantic Major Midget regional this weekend at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink. This year’s host team the Saint John Vito’s will be joined by the Hockey New Brunswick provincial title winning Moncton Mark’s Work Wearhouse Flyers after winning a 4-0 series against the Vito’s. Joining the Flyers and Vito’s from the NB-PEI Major Midget Hockey League will be Hockey PEI’s Cornwall Superior Sanitation Thunder, after their 4-0 series with the Charlottetown Mark’s Work Wearhouse Islanders. Representing Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador is the St. John’s Fog Devils after a 4-0 series win in the Newfoundland & Labrador Major Midget AAA Hockey Championship over the Tri-Pen Frost at the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts. Finishing off the list of the list of contenders is the returning 2008 championship team Cole Harbour McCain Major Midgets representing Hockey Nova Scotia. The McCains had one of the closest final series with a 4-1 series against the Halifax McDonalds Major Midgets. A drop in the bucket… err… table

Who is left to tell the tail abount the drop. This may be just a little drop of coffee on the table, but who will tell the world. It was interesting to learn the only part of CBC during these layoffs are the CBC.ca department. The web seems to now finally be changing the directon of media. The idea that you don’t need huge television systems, broadcast transmitters, and printing presses to the people. To those ends there is now not a need for the content to suffe either. The question however is how will interactive benefit the telling of the news? Can the local not be lost to a global voice? Can the web emerge as a primary source for news rather than current methods as regurgitation of the news reported by old media sour we and techniques?

Fitness and Personality Watchmen

I’m going to start today’s post with the fact that I have joined a gym. My friend Andrea finally convinced me to join Nubody’s (now GoodLife) (Now GoodLife). I bought the membership on Thursday and finally went yesterday. Despite feeling a little sore and tired today, I actually feel better. Despite the fact that I have a lot of weight that I should lose, I am actually quite hesitant to set goals/benchmarks at this point. It has been since 2002 since I last regularly worked-out in a gym. The most exercise I have done recently is walking to work from missing the bus. Which according to Google Maps is 3.4 km which should take 39 minutes. I usually take 45-50 minutes to do it, Although I have done it in a “Vindaloo” walk in 32 minutes. (While listening to “Vindaloo” on my iPod. in one song loop mode.) The next topic is to discuss personalities. I was recently updating my profile for the site StumbleUpon which one of the selections is personality type. NASCAR vs. The Simpsons

This morning I was listening to CBC Radio 1 and one of the main stories today is that the local cable company cut off the final few laps of the Nascar race for an all new episode of The Simpsons. Let’s face it The Simpsons is one of the most important influinces of my generation. The Simpsons, teaches that it is important to think for yourself and that one voice can make a difference. In retrospect this week’s particular episode was one of the best lately and I feel bad if an cable company didn’t cut off NASCAR for it.
