The inspiration of this post comes from this block of wood. Since it is so cold outside today i decided to light my wood stove. However this block would not fit in the door. I tried to split it with an hatchet. No Luck. Then I tried with a bigger axe. No Luck. I spent about 20 minutes trying to chip a bit off so it would fit. Keep in mind this it maple which is really hard. In the end I gave up. Though I am going to say in this case I was not defeated, I just decided that this is just going to be a better bonfire piece of wood for summer. Marshmallows anyone?
