Ryerson is a University now. As the President of Ryerson stated on the cbc last week, they were underfunded as a polytechnic and felt they needed University status. Nowhere in the civilized world has a University been down graded to a College. Why experiment on us?

I can understand the interest in the polytechnic idea, but comparing the proposal for Saint John to Ryerson or any other famous college is unrealistic. These "polytechnics" are in fact well-established universities as well (with roots in the college level). The proposal calls for Saint John's university to be reduced to a polytechnic, losing university status.
